How to Get NBI Clearance

Finding work during the pandemic is in itself a huge undertaking and let us not forget that so does getting and completing all pre-employment requirements. Did you know that since September 2017 that NBI has now released a multi-purpose clearance covering both local and overseas employment? Simplifying all your NBI needs - be it for local employment, overseas travel, visa application, and for whatever you need it for.

Pre-pandemic this was like almost 4-5 years ago; I remember getting my NBI at Tagaytay and having to visit a small shack where someone will input your details and once you have paid you are given a reference number to hand over to the teller. This time, you have the option to do this on your own online.

Advisory: The site allows NBI clearance applicants who are:

  • First-time applicants
  • Renewal of NBI clearance
  • Renewal but previous NBI clearance has correction/error/changes in any field, even if a single letter is to be corrected, need to register online again.

Here are the steps to getting your NBI Clearance:

1. Visit the NBI Website https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/. You will be prompted to sign up or register an account - should you not have an account yet, I recommend you create one which you can revisit when you need to renew it.

Part of the initial setup is getting a One-Time Password on your phone.

2. Login with your preferred login credentials.

3. I have created my profile previously hence I have my information already filled out. If this is your first time, you will be asked to fill in everything you see below. Make sure all information is reviewed twice before moving on to the next step.

3. On the next page, when you are ready to get your clearance click the Apply for Clearance.

4. It will ask you what ID you will present and make sure your ID numbers are filled out correctly. This is also where you can edit the ID you will use. Note: You will need 2 Government-issued IDs when getting your clearance at your chosen NBI satellite site.

5. Once you hit on I Agree, the next step is to select your preferred NBI Branch options can vary depending on where you are at.

I am lucky to find a schedule that is not too far from when I need it. I processed this on March 9th and had schedules within the same week and after. Note: Not all NBI branches are available like in Central Mall, Lapu-Lapu.

For Cavite-residents and those that might need it who read this post, here are the branches and the soonest schedules are below.

Branches with open slots as of this writing soonest is on April 2022

Bacoor Cavite

Cavite Cavido

Citymall - Imus Cavite

OSSCO - SM Bacoor

Robinson Gentri - as of this writing soonest is on May 2022

Robinsons Dasma - as of this writing soonest is on June 2022

Robinsons Imus - no slots open until December 2022 (not sure if they are open)

6. After selecting your preferred branch, the next step is Payment.  I selected GCash as it is the most convenient for me - steps to pay your NBI Clearance via GCash are found here.

7. After completing your payment, you will get your confirmation at your e-mail address. Note: Payment was for Php155 but on the receipt, you will only see Php130 the Php25 is for the service fee. Also, if you skip the online process and complete this onsite - you will be shelling out Php220 for the entire Clearance and processing.

8. Once payment is already cleared you will see under your Transactions.

9. When your schedule is up, just head out to the branch you set your appointment, bring a pen, your mask, shield if needed, vaccine card and  present any two (2) valid Government-issued IDs such as:
  • UMID
  • Passport
  • Driver's License
  • Birth Certificate Authenticated by PSA (Original Copy)
  • Etc
Please keep in mind that Non-Government issued IDs such as Company IDs and Barangay Clearance are NOT ACCEPTED as valid IDs in processing NBI clearance. Additionally, a Barangay Certificate is required for First Time Job Seekers availing of the free service under RA 11261.

Once in the branch, head out to Window 2 for Biometrics and pictorial and then wait for a few minutes and your clearance will be ready which only takes about 30-45 minutes. Should your clearance get a HIT you will only be asked to return after 5 days.
