How to buy Macbook Air (Apple Education)

I have been wanting to migrate over to macOS for the longest time and to be honest and have never looked back. I have been an iOS user for more than a decade already but never really got around to it and to be honest, money was always an issue. Macs can cost an arm and a leg and maybe your left kidney too but it has always been a dream of mine to own one. I have had several instances when I could have bought it but as always life happens and it happens for me more than I would have wanted. What took me so long though? Well, the money of course. I was somewhat hoping to see a bit of a price drop when a new mac is released and lastly, I wanted to get a new one when I can truly say I am able to afford it.

As they say, dreams do come true. I did a bit of research and landed on the Apple education store which saves you Php6000!

Check them out and see if there is something you are eyeing but might be too apprehensive to get and compare them from the main site and of course from your nearby Apple Stores or Power Macs.

Here's a brief comparison between the prices from the regular Apple PH Store vs the Education site, prices are as of Feb 2022. It's a Php6000 difference!

So you bet I got the basic version, just enough for my casual use and maybe a little bit of Steam gaming.  I also felt that going for the Pro might be overkill if I do not use it to its full potential. Also, been wanting a better-performing computer compared to what I am currently using which randomly shuts down when it feels like it. I am looking at learning a new skill like video editing as I have moved all my  #drinkoftheday posts from Facebook to Youtube. Lastly, I wanted to find a freelance job that allows me to do some VO and even some light copywriting.

The process was fairly easy, the only thing that you need to know though was that you need to pay for it in full upfront. There was also no option to pay through a credit card, so yeah that's the only thing you need to worry about. This might not hold true for all but know that as of this writing, there was no option for a credit card. The good news though, is there was no need to show or upload any form of document or ID to prove you are still studying. So you bet, I proceeded! I plan to buy the money I saved for a Bluetooth mouse, an MS Office suite, and a dongle to allow me to use a LAN cord in the event, I might need it.

And just after a few clicks and processing the payment, the order pushed through; received my order number and the estimated shipping time. I watched some Youtube videos and heard that it takes about 3-4 weeks until you get your order. The device will come from Singapore and you will get your invoice in your email. Also, you will get updates directly from your Apple account from the store unless you did not sign up for one. You can also opt for SMS updates from the DHL site at no cost - DHL is their official courier.

I bought the unit last Feb 8th and I was able to receive it yesterday Feb 22nd. The wait was not as long as I initially expected. Shipping is free, you saved the Php6000, and only took 14 days! It was definitely worth the wait. You can click the pic to get more details.

And yes, I created an unboxing video to be posted on my Youtube channel here - FTW! blog YT Channel. Have you been wanting a Macbook? Go! Get one! We both know you deserve it!

Note: As of this writing November 6th, the site now will request documentation of enrollment/school proof.
