Sticky Pork Ribs

They say that you have to be born to cook, I say that it only takes one to read and one to search and follow instructions. I could say I am lucky to have those three skills! Just allow me this moment of self-love!! :D

Going back to the main agenda, this would be the first entry on my Guiltless Gourmand series. Decided to change the Savory Sundays since my dayoff no longer fall on a Sunday. Ugh!

Enough about that.

Sticky Pork Ribs Recipe

Found at the Foreign Section.
Ingredients:
  • pork ribs
  • rice vinegar
  • rice wine
  • honey
  • salt and pepper
  • chili flakes
  • anise star
  • ginger
  • garlic
  • spring onions
  • Japanese vineger
  • rice wine

What you need to do:
  • Get a roasting tray or a grilling pan and heat it over medium-high heat.
  • Season pork ribs with salt and pepper.
  • Placed them on the hot tray, it should sizzle. This means that the pan is hot enough. Cook until they have a lovely brown color.
  • Slice ginger to thin strips, the thinner the ginger the more fragrant it would become. Thinly slice the garlic.
  • Turn meat and make sure it has a good color, place ginger and garlic on top of the meat.
  • Add peppercorns, chili flakes and star anise.
  • To sweeten it, glaze with honey.
  • Add soy sauce, 2 tbsp Japanese vinegar then 300ml of rice wine.
  • Continue to cook until it boils. Taste and suit to taste.

  • Add spring onions for sharpness.

  • Pour 400ml of chicken stock and heat oven.
  • Cook at 180 for 30 minutes, turn and cook for another 30 minutes more.

Tada! Sticky Pork Ribs straight from the oven! :)

Yes, it was sticky, juicy and best eaten with your hands. Forgot to mention that you would need heaping servings of rice for this recipe. ♥
