Pukot Kitchen

I have been away from Cebu's food scene for almost 8 years and I must admit it has been somewhat overwhelming seeing so many new places to visit! A few of my favorites have closed and the number of new places has definitely increased. I made a short list of places I plan to dine when I can, and now that I have relocated back to Cebu, I can finally visit them.

One of the places on my list was Pukot Kitchen a quaint, cozy restaurant located at The Flying Fish Hostel Cebu. Mind you before visiting the place, reservations are strictly required - absolutely no walk-ins. Tip: Reserve a table during the weekdays and around 4-6PM as you can still enjoy chilling by the pool which has the best seat. You can also opt to dine inside in a more intimate and close-spaced setting.

We checked the menu and started to order our meal. I was with five of my close friends which is always the way to go when visiting new places - be with people you can talk to for hours and share meals with!

We ordered the following:

Margherita and Quattro Formaggi which is made with Naan rather than the usual pizza dough. I know Naan is usually made similarly to pizza dough but with milk making it more enriched. It had the perfect level of thickness, giving the sauce a good canvas to cook with. It was notably less greasy and best eaten right after being served. I particularly loved the Quattro Formaggi better than the Margherita. They had a deal with the pizza, any 2 flavors for PHP565 or pizza and pasta combo for PHP485.

We also got the Chili Cheese Fries to share and this was really good this went by pretty fast! We had to stop ourselves from ordering another round. Price: PHP399

Someone ordered the Caesar Salad which was also good. Typical for any salad but I do appreciate that there is a faint taste of anchovy from the sauce. Price: Php300

The Pan Seared Salmon was an instant hit. Well cooked, not too greasy and that white sauce is divine. The sauteed vegetables were still crunchy and well seasoned. This meal is perfect for those that cannot seem to decide what to have or that friend who is looking for something filling yet healthy. Price: PHP665

Another good meal was the Pork BBQ Ribs, tender, saucy and that extra runny egg topping to the rice is a great touch! It added another dimension to the meal. I also appreciate the small salad side dish balancing all that protein. Price: PHP535

The Pukot Special was definitely special, it's their take on surf and turf, and boy it did live up to its name. I enjoyed this very much and would order this again when I get to visit! The shrimp tasted fresh and juicy and that sauce had a kick to it, peppery albeit spicy? It was soo good I could not keep my mouth from raving about how good the meal was! And you bet, I sucked that prawn head! Price: PHP720

The ambiance is cozy, intimate, and definitely a perfect place for a good night out with friends and even a date night. They also have a wide array of drinks which is also a must-try! If you are looking to impress someone, Pukot Kitchen is the way to go. Have anyone of you visited Pukot Kitchen? What's your favorite dish?
