I never make a grand spectacle out of birthdays. I would rather stay home and eat something homemade. Luckily, my birthday fell on a Thursday. Feria offers 50% off for Feria's dinner buffet every Thursday of the month. For just Ph700 you would savor flavors from the East and dive into the freshness of European dishes, or you fancy something Chinese they have that too. It was needless to say, epic!
The space was really wide. You can opt to be seated near the banquet, or inside the dome like structure where they display Japanese dishes or be enclosed in a partition for large gatherings. One had to wear something rather pleasant considering that this is a 5-star hotel. I had to dress up for the occasion. It's not really mandated but you would feel like a fish out of the sea if you wear casual clothes. This is not any ordinary buffet place.
Let me take you on a brief tour.
The Salad Stations
This one is a DIY version and a cheese display up top with dried fruits and nuts to the sides. A selection of dressing. Free for all. Someone got heavy with bacon.
Here are a few pre-made salads on a separate area. I only know the 3rd display, Caprese Salad. This is one of the simplest salad with only a slice of tomato, fresh mozarella, olive oil, basil and a dash of salt.
Ranging from Rye, Wheat and Wholewheat they got plenty! They also have soft breads for wiping off your favorite pasta dish. Butter? They have that too in small portions to the left. You have the option to slice according to your liking.
Italian Station
As you guessed it, pizza displayed for lovers of the thin crust. They even had one pizza aimed for the healthy buffs, a Zuccini Pizza. Didn't try that. I tried the usual Hawaiian and the Pepperoni. I wasn't sure what went wrong but the cheese on the pizza fell short with expectations. I wasn't that bad, it just wasn't good enough for me.
Pasta Station
Meat Section
There is a small portion to the farthest left of the whole floor that is dedicated to Rice and Dimsum. Next to it is the Meat Section. Where you can find roasted meat and even Lechon.
Pork crackling was heavenly. Crunchy and flavorful at each bite.
I loved the Roast Beef. Tender and seasoned perfectly. I loved that it was medium! It's far better if you eat it medium. Same with steak! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. There's a small area where you can get Shawarma, it's too dark on this photo but it's on the far left side. :)
You also get to select your type of seasoning. Gravy? They have it!
Noodle Station
I simply appreciate good noodle soup. Meet Chef Arwin, Radisson's Lamien or Noodle-Puller Chef. All orders done a la minute. You get to see him spread, pull, knead and cut the noodles. He then swishes them over a boiling hot vat of liquid. It was entertaining to watch. You can select any form of meat you wish. I wanted to try the Chicken Soup. Authenticity at it's best. Loved it!
The Dessert Stations
These two are just doing it wrong. A chocolate fountain is where you dip in your fruit or marshmallow not get chocolate from. Tsk. Noobs.
Here's what I had on my plate: Roast Beef, Corn Salsa, Calzone, Pizza, Lechon, Grilled Corn and Roasted Chicken. I had thirds off the beef. |
Sorry, I wasn't able to take a decent photo of the Cold Stations. This is where you can head off to for seafoods and of course Sushi!!
|
It was my first time trying out Salmon Sashimi, I wasn't sure if that was how it should taste like. I have learned a lot from all TV series Anthony Bourdain has ever made. Yes, I am a fanatic. He thought me that best sushi is never the freshest. Fresh fresh does not have a taste. It's chewy and hard. The Salmon was creamy and too creamy for my taste. I loved the Tuna, it was soft and felt just like butter.
By the way, since this is one of the most awaited day of the week for buffet eaters, you may want to call and reserved your seats. They will also asked you if you are celebrating something special. I told them it was my birthday. They will totally surprise you with a song and a cake. It's sweet and embarrassing at the same time.
The cake was a mousse. It was subtly sweet and decadent. I loved it. <3 They had artisan ice cream as well. It was divine.
I took a few slices from their cake display and I loved the Ricotta Tart that's the yellow one on the photo and the Creme Brulee with a smidgen of brandy. Just enough to keep you wanting more.
Simply the best buffet experience ever! Will definitely come back for more.
