Sweet Little Things | Cupcakes and Drinks

Just when you think Sweet Little Things only offer the most delectable cupcakes in town, think again. They launched their new line of drinks last September. I got an invite from Miss Sandra, the ever radiant owner and cupcake expert to try them out. Being the busy person that I am took a long while for me to visit them. As they say, better late than never. I eventually visited them before the year ended, thought I deserved a break.

I have blogged about them twice, I believe. Remember the review I made last April of this year? How about the time when we tied up for a photo contest aptly called Bite Into This? In any case, you  may read them on the links provided. Some people have a hard time finding the place, it's the street across Simply J's. The same street where Sprockets and Taiwan Shabu-Shabu. It's the small nook between them. Hard to miss.

I have been dying to try out their Chocolate Truffle cupcake. So it was a no-brainer as to what I was going to have. I got myself the Chocolate Truffle, my all time favorite: Lemon Poppyseed and Monkey Business which is not shown on the photo. 

Change is good but I loved the fact that the taste remained constant. The cake was moist, crumbly and fresh. I simply bow down to these guys when it comes to keeping these moist and fresh daily. This is one of the many things to consider for anyone who sells this small pastry goodness for a living. Also, I noted back then on my previous posts that no one should ever skimp on frosting. There is a science to it. In SLT Cakes and Cofffe, their cake and frosting ratio is just spot on. You will still have enough frosting left to the last bite.

The Chocolate Truffle is a small piece of chocolate heaven. Soft and moist chocolate cake. Crumbles to every bite yet not too overpowering. The frosting packed with chocolatey goodness. It's something you can easily get addicted to. This one, is as cliche as it will sound: to die for! I can't help but take another bite.

The Lemon Poppyseed has been my ultimate favorite. I love the play on flavors: tangy, sour and subtle sweetness. The cake as expected is moist. A true guarantee that freshness is their number one priority.

Drinks were categorized from hot, crushed and frosted. Other than the usual coffee, they also serve chocolate, tea and milk tea. I had to try atleast 2 to see which beverages would go best with my selected cupcakes.

The Crushed Malaysian Milktea (Php85) came to me as a surprise hit. This by far is the most simple yet satisfying drink. Crafted per order. No sinkers and no other toppings just milk tea with ice. It couldn't be any simpler than that. Don't let it fool you though, even at it's basic form it certainly was good enough for me. I recommend this for anyone who want to join in the bandwagon. Straightforward and truly a gateway drink for any soon to be milk tea afficionado. Best with the Lemon Poppyseed cupcake and the pair is perfect for each other.

I was never  a fan of coffee as I get palpitations every time I have one. Frosted drinks means that you get a dollop of cream on top of your drink. They use nothing less than that of the highest quality. The Java Chip Frost (Php135) had a bitter taste to it due to the cocoa nibs with a balanced mix of chocolatey-coffee and cream goodness. The drink is perfect with the Chocolate Truffle. The drink balances the cupcake. A good pair for an instant pick me up after a very long day at work.

Offering more than just cupcakes, they offer customized cakes and now drinks. They are also open for special events with their mobile kiosk. PJ and Sandra, the head of operations are the most down to earth couple. Sweet and humble, each visit is truly worthwhile.

Living with the philosophy that quality product should never be scrimped, what you see is truly what you get. It may even surprise you someties. Good surprise, trust me. :)
